Slurrrrrpppppp!!!

Year 2 have done lots of exciting things this week.

They have been doing some really hard maths which included adding and subtracting all in the same sums! They have all worked super hard and their maths brains have certainly been challenged this week!

Thursday afternoon was all about Joe Wicks... unfortunately we didn't have him in school but we were very close to it by looking at some of his workouts and even doing them which helped us to learn different exercises that keep us fit and healthy. Also in our Healthy Lifestyle topic we looked at hygiene and how we can keep the germs away as much as possible, especially at this time of year!

In forest school the children got a super warm snack of soup, they helped make this by using tomatoes, carrots, onion, celery, pasta and cheese. All of them agreed it was very yummy and the soup round their mouths also told us they had loved it!

All things bright and beautiful!!

This week Year 2 became nutritionists for the afternoon thanks to a wonderful visit from Harrison's mum, who came into school to talk to us about healthy eating.  She talked about why we should eat a 'rainbow' of fruits and vegetables and supervised the making of our very own rainbow! We all tried something new that we hadn't eaten before and made sure we had lots of questions to enable us to get the best answers from the expert!  Mrs Gregory - thank you, we had a wonderful afternoon.

As part of the work that Mrs Gregory did with the children, you will find a tally chart in their reading folder this weekend.  Please encourage them to fill this in as it handily links in with the maths that we are doing in class.  When it is completed, please send it back into school.

Our classroom helper Millie went to ISA hockey this week in London and came home with a silver medal. Well done Millie!
A big thank you to everyone who gave money to donate to Children in Need. We had some super spotty and beautifully bright outfits!

Well done Year 2 for all your hard work this week - we hope that you have a wonderful weekend.

Coming back with a bang!

We have had a very busy first week back after half term!

In English, we have been listening to, and learning about funny poems. Please ask your child to tell you about some of the tongue twisters that they have had fun practising!

Maths has involved measuring (Mrs Y-F's group) and learning about money (Mrs U's group) - don't forget to try and work on the 2,5 and 10 times tables with your child at home.

As previously mentioned, our topic for the first three weeks of this term is Healthy Living.  Our focus this week has been on a healthy mind and we have been discussing emotions and feelings. The children have tried really hard to talk about their own feelings and what we can do to help ourselves and each other both in and out of school.

We have looked at some breathing techniques and have had a go at some yoga!

We have had a few items of clothing that have gone missing over the past few days. Please make sure that all items are named so we can try and prevent this. Thank you.

Have a great weekend!
